Love Island's Laura Anderson 'felt guilty the whole time' during Dubai work trip

Laura Anderson has opened up about the "horrendous backlash" to her recent Dubai work trip.

The Love Island star has been faced with heaps of criticism after she jetted off to Dubai amid tight Covid restrictions - despite the trip being completely legal as it was for work.

She's one of a number of reality stars and influencers facing the backlash, and has now told that she "felt guilty the whole time" she was there.

Laura, who's a fan favourite from 2018's Love Island, said it acted as a "coping mechanism" for her as she lives on her own.

"Oh my God, I felt guilty the whole time," she said in a video.

"I don't think anyone realised how bad the strain would get and how quickly, so hearing people upset at home was horrendous."

She captioned the clip: "The backlash was horrendous and still is.

"I don't expect anyone to understand my situation. I apologise to everyone I've upset, I truly mean that as it was never my intention.

"I genuinely felt it was my only coping mechanism as a single occupant."

Laura's since returned from Dubai (lauraanderson1x/Instagram)

This comes after Priti Patel hit out at influencers for "showing off about which parts of the world that they are in."

Laura recently clapped back at those criticising her for the trip, saying: "This whole thing about everyone hating influencers, I'm just like f**k...this is what I do for a job at the minute.

"I don't want to feel c**p. I'm thinking, maybe, would it be a good idea to give more of an insight into the reality of being an influencer?"

Laura explained that she needed to be there for work (lauraanderson1x/Instagram)

She continued: "I think a lot of young people might want to do it, but you realise it's not that great when you see the reality of it.

"I saw someone in my comments saying you're on holiday, but when you're working you're not on holiday.

"On holiday doesn't mean just in the sun."
