Love Island's Laura Anderson exposes hidden door, takeaways and segregated lunches

Love Island star Laura Anderson has lifted the lid on some of the biggest secrets of life in the villa.

Laura, 32, who starred on the 2018 series, revealed what it's really like for islanders at the mealtimes viewers do not see, as well as the nighttime visitors, segregation and hidden doors.

The cast for the brand new series of Love Island 2021 has now been announced ahead of the launch next week.

She explained there is a Big Brother-style two-way larder in the kitchen which doubles up as a "sneaky exit door" where producers can grab an islanders for a chat.

"If you see someone coming out of 'the larder', there's probably drama ahead!" she warned in her interview with Closer.

Laura also revealed the huge wooden door to the villa is bizarrely left open all night, meaning wildlife could come and go as it pleased, even including peacocks in the house.

She added that the camera operators have a break at lunchtime, meaning the contestants also have a break from being filmed - but any new couples or islanders who are arguing are split up from the rest of the group.

This is to make sure no action takes place off-camera, heightening the drama for viewers.

On booze, Laura, who is currently dating Dane Bowers, explained islanders get two, pre-poured glasses of wine in the evening, maximum.

She added there were occasionally one or two bottles of prosecco between them, "but you'd be lucky to get half a glass of that!"

Not only that, but producers would watch them carefully to ensure no one stole a sip of someone else's drink.

Laura said islanders get roughly four half-days off in the entire eight week filming period, where the boys and girls were generally split up.

"One group would go to the holding villa where we'd take off our mics and laze around the pool with our chaperones," she explained, and added that they were treated to "amazing" takeaways too.

Light sleepers beware - islanders will also often be woken up in the night when producers come to change their microphone pack beside their bed at 5am.

But Laura said the cast are generally on first name terms with most of the crew, so the disturbance became less alarming.

* The brand new series of Love Island begins Monday, 28th June, at 9pm
