Gabby is absolutely turning out to be the most chaotic star of Love Island Australia 2025, both on-screen and off. She recently sent fans into a spin after telling Daniel Olaniran (@olantekkers) in an interview that Jotham had a girlfriend on the outside the whole series (!!!).

Well, naturally Jotham had a few things to say about this accusation, which placed him squarely in the “went on a reality dating show to get TikTok followers and not for love” camp.
He spilled the tea to TV Week, and his take on the chaos is very different to Gabby’s. “Right before she’d done that, she was copping a lot of hate from the public,” he told the media outlet, adding that he thought they were on good terms after the show had wrapped. “I think there were always a bit of harsh feelings,” he added. “She heard a whiff of some little rumour and decided to escalate it… It is a bit disappointing and unfortunate.”
When asked directly if he did have a secret girlfriend while filming Love Island Australia, Jotham set the record straight. “It’s not true,” he told TV Week, but elaborated a bit, admitting there was a bit of a grey area.
“I was definitely talking to someone before the villa – to a few people,” he said. “Some I was seeing more than others. But it was pretty much just that. I barely even went on dates.”
Sounds like a few situationships on the go there, maybe? “I haven’t really been much of a dater on the outside,” he went on to explain. “I don’t do dinner dates.”
Jotham says he reached out to Gabby after the chaotic video was shared. “I said I was disappointed, especially when we were on good terms. She explained how she’d been going through a tough time, she was drunk, and she didn’t know what she was saying and that she’d been hounded,” he said.
While that’s a decent explanation, Jotham wasn’t happy. “In the whole message, there just wasn’t a sorry, so that’s where we’ve left it,” he said, adding that there’s been “ongoing drama” between him and Gabby since they left the villa, so he’d kind of been expecting it to blow up.
You know what, would it even be a Love Island series without some off-screen controversy? No, it wouldn’t.
