Love Island's Joe in 'safe house' as ITV prepare him for backlash over treatment of Lucie

He's faced a lot of criticism over his treatment of Lucie Donlan in the Love Island villa and it's being reported that Joe Garratt is being kept in a 'safe house' by ITV bosses who are preparing him for a big backlash.

Many Love Island fans have voiced serious concerns about Joe's 'controlling' behaviour towards Lucie, with and on Tuesday night he was given his marching orders in a public vote, in which Elma was also dumped, with viewers instead saving Lucie and Anton.

And now The Sun are reporting that Joe is being kept in a safe house by ITV for his own well-being.

A source told the paper "Joe has been in the safehouse since leaving the villa.

“There has been a backlash against him and as part of ITV’s new duty of care, they’re doing everything they can to help him deal with it when he comes out.”

And some viewers are in shock at the drastic measures apparently being taken.

One posted "Just been reading that following Joe’s exit, he’s had to been put in a safe house because of all the backlash he’s got on social media... think y’all need to remember that the show is a social construct like we see 1 out of 24 hours it doesn’t portray true reality."

Will Lucie leave Love Island after Joe's thrown out of the Villa?

Echoing those sentiments, another reacted "How ridiculous is it that joe on love island now apparently has to stay in a safe house after coming out to avoid abuse he’ll likely get off public???

"how messed up are the public to give so much abuse to someone that they can’t even return to their home straight away. Grow up."
