Love Island's Jess Hayes wishes she had 'taken the money after Max Morley win'

Love Island star Jess Hayes confessed she wishes she took the prize money after winning the series with Max Morley.

The former contestant, 29, was the winner of the first series of the popular ITV2 dating show and even entered the villa on day one.

Looking back at her time in the villa, she revealed she would have '100%' taken all the money.

Appearing on Love Island Aftersun with runner-up Hannah Elizabeth, host Laura Whitmore asked if there was anything she would have done differently.

Jess answered: "Do you know what, it was such a journey for me and I think I was hated at the beginning you know. I loved it so much, it was hard.

"I think the only thing I would do differently is I would have taken all the money. 100% I should have taken all that money."

The final episode of the show have the winning couple receiving a £50,000 prize. The person carrying the card that reads the amount has to pick whether to share or take the money.

Nobody has ever taken the entire cash prize before.

Jess and Max didn't last too long on the outside, with the two splitting up just six weeks after returning to their lives.

She went on to get engaged to mechanic Dan Lawry.

The two welcomed son Presley in 2019 but lost their second baby Teddy when she miscarried at 19 weeks.

Unfortunately, Jess and Dan split up in 2021 but she managed to find love again with an unnamed man.

In February, she told new! magazine that she felt like the "old Jess again – but a better version," which was all down to being a healthy weight and focusing on herself for the first time in a long time.

Revealing some information about her new beau, Jess told new! magazine that it was still early days and that the whole thing was "very unexpected."

"It’s going well. I’m happy, I’m in a good place. But I feel like I don’t want to say too much at the moment because it’s such early days," she told the magazine.

She wasn't ready to share how the two met and said that it seemed like things "were meant to be" before explaining that she had "a good feeling" about her romance.
