Love Island's Jake and Liberty quit as they make big announcement after split

Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole have quit Love Island as scenes airing tonight show the pair announcing to the rest of the Islanders that they are leaving the villa.

It comes after Liberty and Jake mutually agreed to break up on Thursday night after recent disagreements in the villa.

The pair will go on their final date together during this evening's episode of the ITV2 dating series, just hours after calling time on their romance.

Things look slightly awkward as they are sat apart on a boat for the date, before they return to the villa with some big news.

Asking for all their baffled Islanders to gather at the fire pit, the duo share that they have an announcement to make.

The pair will tell them all that they have decided to walk away from the chance of winning the £50,000 prize pot just days ahead of the final.

A source told MailOnline: "It was a really tough decision for the couple to make, but it felt like the right thing to do.

"They'd given it their all on camera and wanted to let their friends in other couples have a chance at winning.

"Saying goodbye was emotional for all the Islanders, as they've become so close, like family, but it won't be long before they're all reunited.

"It's not 100 per cent over for Jake and Liberty, there are still a lot of feelings involved, so who knows what will happen on the future."

Some fans had questioned if they could be getting back together, while others believe there is something huge going on - that has already been filmed.

In the clip the pair ask to speak to their pals before saying: "Do you all wanna gather around the fire pit?

Voiceover Iain Stirling says: "Epic dates lead to epic decisions," while Islander Millie Court is seen open-mouthed in complete shock over what they have to say.

Taking to Twitter, viewers immediately suspected they were going to quit the show, after Liberty tried to walk out a day earlier.

One viewer said: "100% that tomorrow night is Jake and Liberty leave!"

Another agreed after watching the clip: "erm god i’m dreading tommorow nights episode it’s gonna be bad or bad either lib is going to leave or there back together."

A third added of the moment: "Bets on Jake & Liberty announcing they will leave as friends and let a genuine couple win."

This was backed by another viewer, who wrote: "prediction - jake and liberty will agree to leave so there'll be no vote for the final four couples."

Meanwhile, another fan said: "Like I hope they leave tomorrow instead of getting back together, but I DONT WANT THEM TO LEAVE TOGETHER NO NO NO."

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
