Love Island's Jake and Liberty leave the villa just days before finale

Love Island stars Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole have quit the show and left the villa.

After a turbulent episode yesterday, the pair have decided to walk away from the chance of winning the £50,000 prize pot just days ahead of the final, The Mirror reports.

Liberty and Jake have been coupled up since day one of Love Island and became officially boyfriend and girlfriend when Jake planned a romantic evening with the rest of the cast helping out.

Despite being a solid couple for seven weeks, (Jake even took to reminding everyone in Casa Amor that he had a girlfriend), the pair started to hit some bumps in the road.

Liberty discovered during a 'movie night' that Jake did not want to "rip her clothes off" and she was put off when she saw how he encouraged the other boy's to stray from their original couples in Casa Amor.

A source told MailOnline: "It was a really tough decision for the couple to make, but it felt like the right thing to do.

"They'd given it their all on camera and wanted to let their friends in other couples have a chance at winning.

"Saying goodbye was emotional for all the Islanders, as they've become so close, like family, but it won't be long before they're all reunited.

"It's not 100 per cent over for Jake and Liberty, there are still a lot of feelings involved, so who knows what will happen on the future."

Last night Liberty broke down as she called time on her romance with Jake.

Liberty cried as explained her fears that Jake had 'the ick' with her because she was untidy, before confessing to Faye Winter that she didn't think her and her boyfriend were right for each other.

She said: "If I'm not making him happy I don't wanna be in this relationship. All I can do is be me. I can't be fake, I can't pretend I am happy when I am not.

"I'm not taking anything away from Jake. He is a great guy, I just don’t think we are right for each other."

Liberty then told Jake it was over before handing back the bracelet he gave her to cement their romance.

However, eagle eyed fans have spotted that Liberty is wearing a the bracelet in tonight's first look which has left viewers questioning if they are really over.

Liberty was left questioning their relationship after Jake dropped the L-bomb but the girls warned her that they thought he was just telling her what she wanted to hear.

It all came to a head on Thursday's episode, when fans saw Liberty break down, as she ripped off her microphone pack and storm off.

When Jake made a comment about it "all being about her" during a selfie, things escalated.

Crying to Faye Winter, who is no stranger to a lover's tiff, Liberty was encouraged to be honest and be herself, resulting in her having a conversation with an anxious Jake about wanting to leave the villa.

She told him that she didn't think he loved her for who she was and that she wanted someone to love her for her.

Liberty shared her concern that their energy was different to earlier on in the series, before saying she didn't want to change for anyone.

He said he didn't want to even think about splitting up with her thinking he had found the one, before making the joint decision to end it now.

Liberty said: "I hope you find someone that suits you better."
