Love Island's Iain Stirling sends Michael Owen message as daughter enters the villa

Love Island's Iain Stirling has sent a message to Michael Owen as his daughter prepares to enter the villa.

Gemma is one of the Islanders on season eight of the ITV2 programme, which begins on Monday. The Team GB dressage competitor has vowed to avoid “disrespecting or embarrassing” her dad by having sex on camera. She said: “They trust me not to do anything to embarrass them, so I don’t think I would have sex in the villa.”

Iain Stirling was quizzed on the footballer's daughter as he appeared on today's edition of Lorraine. Friday's episode of the show was hosted by Christine Lampard who said the former Liverpool FC striker is "apparently not happy" about his daughter's decision.

However, Iain was quick to ease any concerns and assured the 42-year-old he will be "proud". He added: "He's got nothing to worry about it.

"It's fine. She seems like a wonderful girl. I'm sure she's gonna have a great time. He knows that deep down inside he's gonna end up a very proud dad."

Iain also confirmed a huge shake up to the show this year as viewers can vote to decide the first couples. He announced: "We're mixing things up this year.

"We want you guys at home to play cupid and you will have your say on which boy couples up with which girl. All you have to do is go over to the Love Island app right now and decide who you want to couple up with who.

“The poll is live right now, and the poll will close again tomorrow morning at 9am. It’s a fantastic poll, where you get to decide who’s being coupled up with who.”

Love Island starts Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
