Love Island’s Iain Stirling confirms official end date and fans aren't happy

Love Island’s Iain Stirling confirmed the official end date of the season in a casual comment on Sunday night’s show.

It’s been six weeks since the current cast of islanders first took to the screen on June 28.

But as the drama continues to unfold in the villa, and two newcomers set to arrive tonight, the popular narrator revealed that there are still two weeks of sun soaked chaos to come.

And fans appear to be divided on the news online.

During a voiceover a clip of Dale and Mary's discussion about the pace their relationship is moving at in the villa, the Scottish comedian joked: "Mary wants to take things slowly with Dale.

"Mary, you've got all the time in the world. And by all the time in the world, I do mean Monday the 23rd of August. After which, you're out on your ear."

And after weeks of speculation about the end date, the casual date drop wasn't missed by fans on Twitter.

However, whilst some fans commented that they didn't want it to end, others appeared impatient for the season to come to a conclusion.

One fan wrote: "23rd? There’s still TWO more weeks of this? They should just end it next week tbh #loveisland"

Another commented: "Did that man say the 23rd AUGUST?! Nah wrap this show up ASAP #loveIsland"

Meanwhile, someone else said: “I swear #LoveIsland is flying by, like it’s the final on the 23rd?? This season was a snooze fest but went by so quick.”

Others said they were looking forward to the Islander’s return home, with one saying: “August 23rd I’ll be at Gatwick waiting for Teddy.”

The end date will see the show conclude after 49 episodes.

But with two weeks left, fans are curious about what other twists and turns could be in store.

One said: “Doesn’t end until the 23rd this year for some reason. I’m struggling to think of what they’re gonna do for another two weeks #LoveIsland”

Another said: “The show doesn’t end until the 23rd this year.. wtf are they gonna do until then seen as everyone seems settled.”

But after two more islanders are set to be dumped tonight, the villa is set to be rocked by new bombshells Priya Gopaldas and Aaron Simpson.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.
