Love Island's Iain Stirling and Laura Whitmore touch down in Mallorca ahead of ITV2 show's start

Iain Stirling and Laura Whitmore have touched down in Mallorca ahead of the beginning of the new series of Love Island.

The couple were pictured arriving at Palma de Mallorca on the Spanish island as they prepare to taking on hosting duties for the famed Love Island villa.

Edinburgh-born Iain, who has narrated the show since the beginning, shared a picture of him inside the villa - which will be home to the latest batch of singletons for the next two months from Monday.

He spoke on ITV's Lorraine show this morning live from the villa as he announced a major a twist to this year’s series, which will get the viewers involved straight from the start.

Iain Stirling told viewers of a twist to this year's series (ITV)

The 34-year-old comedian said this morning: “We’re mixing things up this year.

“We want all you guys at home to play cupid and you will have your say on which boy couples up with which girl. All you have to do is go over to the Love Island app right now and decide who you want to double with who.

“The poll is live right now, and the poll will close again tomorrow morning at 9am. It’s a fantastic poll, where you get to decide who’s being coupled up with who.”

Love Island fans were given their first glimpse of the contestants entering the villa earlier this week.

It was revealed that Liverpool legend Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma has signed on for this series.

Model and dancer Natasha Ghouri will also become the show’s first ever deaf contestant to join the cast of the ITV2 show.

Viewers will be able to have their say on who should couple up together on day one through the Love Island app - which is available on the App Store and Google Play Store.

Polls for this will close at 9am tomorrow - so it’s probably best you get those votes in as early as possible.

Love Island’s eighth series will kick off on Monday, June 6 at 9pm.
