Love Island’s Hugo and Sharon cuddle up in snap before awkward 'sister-zone' remark

Love Island's Hugo Hammond had the nation cringing this week when he told fellow islanders Sharon Gaffka he saw her as a sister.

Sharon had secretly revealed to her pals in the villa that she had a crush on Hugo, only to be shot down when she tentatively broached the topic with him.

But a photo of the friendship couple posted on the Love Island Instagram page appears to show a different story.

The two singletons are smiling as they pose for a selfie on a bed together, with Sharon leaning into Hugo and making body contact with him.

One follower replied: ""I'm sorry but Hugo and Sharon look good together."

"Hugo and Sharon pic is cute tho," added another.

"Why do Sharon and Hugo actually look good together tho," wondered a third.

But Hugo made his feelings abundantly clear to Sharon, who once furiously scolded him for repeatedly saying he didn't like "fakeness", when she pulled him for a chat.

"If I'm completely honest with you I can't see there being anything romantic between you and me because I see you as a little sister in here now, and I think you're amazing and I want you to find someone that's 100 per cent you, and you definitely deserve that," said Hugo.

"I don't see you in that way and I don't think I ever could.

"As much as friendship couples are great and we have fun, it serves a purpose for the time being, but I don't want it to be my whole experience. I want to share this with someone.

"I don't want this to be your whole experience at all," he added.

One viewer cringed: "Sharon got little sister zoned."

"LMAOOO sharon didn’t even get friend zoned. MAN SAID LITTLE SISTER. that’s a whole other level," giggled another.

Love Island will continue on Sunday night with a looming recoupling that will see one girl get dumped.

This week has seen the series marred by scandal as bombshell Danny Bibby apologised for using the N-word in an Instagram post two years ago.

Speaking from inside the villa, Danny said in a statement: "I'd like to take the time to apologise to anyone that may have taken offence to my inappropriate remark. I never meant anything malicious by this comment at all.

"I am not a racist person and it's unacceptable language and ignorant. I meant no offence and feel like I have really learnt from my mistakes and will never use that word again.

"I am a kind loving person and hopefully you get to see that in the show," he added.
