Love Island star Hugo Hammond and newcomer Chuggs were reportedly love rivals when they attended university together.
During Thursday's episode of the ITV2 dating series, the two men came face-to-face with one another inside the Spanish villa and confirmed that they knew one another.
Hugo had already hinted that he knew who Chuggs was when Sharon Gaffka read out a text regarding his arrival with fellow newcomer Liam Reardon.
Despite swapping pleasantries when they came face-to-face on Love Island, a source has claimed that Hugo could be feeling disappointed at the new arrival as it could be a case of "history repeating itself".
The insider said: "Hugo and Chuggs knew each other through sport at uni - I think they were both interested in the same girl and went head to head on trying to date her.
"That's why Hugo was so nervous in the villa - it's like history repeating itself!" they added to The Sun.
Both Hugo and Chuggs attended Oxford Brooks university before joining the cast of the ITV2 dating show this year.
However, Chuggs - real name Oliver - certainly wasn't an instant hit with the ladies in the villa.
Chuggs enjoyed a date with Sharon, which appeared to go well, but when it came to the re-coupling on Friday evening, Sharon chose Aaron Francis as her new partner.
Newbie Liam was snapped up by Faye Winter after the pair enjoyed a chatty date, but this left Hugo single.
Chloe Burrows saved the day by picking Hugo as her new man, and this left Chuggs and Brad on the shelf.
At the last minute, bombshell Rachel Finni entered the villa looking sensational in a bright orange two-piece.
The two men were told that they had just 24 hours to impress Rachel and then she would choose who she wants to couple up with.
But fans of the show fear that neither one of them is her type and reckon that Aaron was already eyeing up the 29-year-old luxury travel specialist.
Taking to Twitter, many Love Island fans speculated that the 24-year-old luxury events host Aaron could have his head turned.
Posting a grab of Aaron running, one person joked: "aaron on his way to jump ship to rachel #loveisland."
Another tweeted: "I dunno why but I think Aaron is gonna move to Rachel #loveIsland."
A third claimed: "Aaron’s head is gone #loveisland," while a fourth added: "Won’t be suprised if Aaron pockets racheal #LoveIsland (sic)."
Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2.
