Love Island’s 'hero' Amy breaks out of hiding and jets back into the UK TODAY

Love Island star Amy Hart is set to return home today after quitting the show following her dumping by ballroom dancer Curtis Pritchard.

The 26-year-old former air stewardess had been kept in hiding in Spain since walking out of the villa on Tuesday, and did not have her phone returned to her by ITV bosses.

Her shock exit saw her become the fifth islander to leave the show within 24 hours.

Last night saw Amy come out of hiding following extra therapy sessions from the show’s aftercare team in a bid to help her cope with her heartbreak.

Returning to the villa briefly, she finally revealed that she chose to leave the villa because she had fallen in love and her heart had been broken.

Holding Curtis’ hand on the terrace, a tearful Amy told him she still loved him, but admitted that neither would be able to move on if the were both under the same roof.

Also crying, Curtis pleaded with his ex-half-girlfriend to stay, but Amy replied: “I have to go.”

Her fellow Islanders were also left in tears as Amy explained: “When you love someone you have to let them go".

Speaking in the Beach Hut, she confirmed that she held no grudges against Curtis or Maura Higgins, who has been accused by fans of the show of breaking the ‘girl-code’.

Amy added: “My Love Island journey finished last night when I sat at that fire pit and I looked at it and thought, ‘Even if I had to take the last week, I would take it if it meant I could take those first four weeks over again.’

"I want to leave in a positive way, surrounded by the people I love, like this... I love you all so much and I cannot tell you what you’ve all done for me."

Amy left the villa on Tuesday and has been kept in hiding by ITV bosses as she received therapy (ITV2)

Fans of the show have repeatedly expressed concern for Amy’s mental health, describing her as “fragile”, and last week she was removed from the house briefly to receive extra therapy from the show’s wellbeing team.

She also reportedly received extra support after she left the villa following Tuesday night’s dumping.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
