Love Island's Greg secretly leaves the villa after family bereavement

Greg O'Shea secretly left the Love Island villa this week after a family bereavement.

The 24-year-old Irishman was allowed to leave the villa on Monday to go to his grandmother's funeral back in Dublin.

The rugby union player flew back to the Irish capital after his grandmother died on Friday at a nursing home.

His family have praised the show for letting him temporarily leave the villa and he has since returned.

A representative for Love Island told the Mirror: "Owing to a bereavement, at the wishes of his family, Greg was away from the villa for a day to attend a funeral.

"Everyone at Love Island extends their sympathies to Greg and his family and we have since welcomed him back to the villa."

Greg's dad, Niall O'Shea, told Limerick Live 95: "Greg is a very good family man and his mother wanted to make sure he was there because himself and his Nan got on well."

This comes after fan favourite Anton Danyluk was also allowed to leave the villa after becoming ill.

A version of this story has appeared on The Mirror.
