Love Island's Greg O'Shea lands in Tokyo as he prepares to take part in his first Olympics

Love Island 2019 winner Greg O'Shea touched down in Tokyo over the weekend as he prepares to compete in his first Olympics.

The Irish hunk, 26, from Limerick, is going to the sports event with his Ireland rugby 7s team after they shocked France to win a final qualifying tournament in Monaco.

He is part of the first Irish rugby team competing in the Olympic games.

Taking to Instagram, Greg posted a snap of himself posing at Dublin airport on Sunday.

"The Olympic journey has started!" he began. "Thanks so much to everyone who messaged me and to all the family, friends and partners that waved us off at the airport. Next stop Tokyo!"

The TV star later shared snippets of his trip to his Instagram Story, showing off his Tokyo experience.

He then shared a picture of the Ireland team, tagging them in his post.

Greg stepped away from the spotlight after he started receiving death threats over his ex Amber Gill's 'false' claim he broke up with her by text.

The star - who won the series with his then partner Amber - said that both he and Amber, 23, decided to FaceTime to end their relationship as they wanted different things.

Amber wanted to move to London after getting a lot of amazing deals while he wanted to continue his rugby career.

Opening up about his life after Love Island, he revealed that he and his family received endless death threats after it was claimed he rudely dumped her via text.

"When it was all happening I was like 'I have screenshots, I can release a statement with screenshots to show people the truth' but it was only going to add fuel to the fire and so I took the brunt of it," he explained about their situation. "It was hard to bite my tongue but that's just the way it played out.

"We did the whole after the show thing and then it got to us speaking to each other away from the cameras and she asked 'are we going to be boyfriend and girlfriend? Are we going to be a proper couple?'"

He added to MailOnline : "I said to her 'realistically, I don't know how this is going to work, you're in England and everyone wants a bit of you, you have your clothing deals and I'm going back to Ireland and going to try and do the Olympics.'"
