Love Island's Greg O'Shea has spoken about his split with Amber Gill and says he "knows the truth" about what happened.
Irish rugby player Greg and Gateshead beauty therapist Amber picked up the £50,000 cash prize after winning the ITV2 show against all the odds. But they split up weeks later.
The Geordie star revealed on Loose Women that 24-year-old Greg had 'dumped her by text' but he maintains he did nothing wrong.
The Irishman has cited the geographical distance between them as the main reason but later added he "knows the truth" about their split and Amber can continue to "say what she wants", reports The Mirror .
Greg spoke on Ryan Tubridy's Radio One show at the National Ploughing Championships earlier this week and claimed he knew the 'real truth' and that was enough to keep his conscience clear.
He said: "Amber's doing great stuff over in the UK. I can be happy with myself that I know the truth and I know what’s happened.
"I'm not going to badmouth [Amber], she’s got great stuff going on, and I can be happy with myself, my friends, and my family knowing what actually happened."
Greg added: "She can say whatever she wants, but I wish her the absolute best – she's a great woman."
Amber had previously indicated she was willing to make the long distance relationship work and that it was Greg that wasn't feeling the same way.
During an appearance on Loose Women , Amber said: "It was always something that we knew about, so I don’t know what changed but I kind of wanted to make it work. It is what it is really.
"From my point of view I still wanted to make it work and there was a call a few days prior, just chatting, but on the day [of the break up] it was just a text.
"I just wanted some effort from him to come to Newcastle or London to see me and he was like, 'Okay, bye!'"
It was recently announced that Amber, 22, had landed a £1m clothing deal and was revealed as the face of clothing brand Miss Pap .
