Love Island's Gemma Owen bans dad Michael from wearing her swim designs because of his 'dad bod'

Love Island ’s Gemma Owen says that her football star dad Michael is “banned” from wearing swimwear from her collection - because he’s not fit enough.

The 19-year-old has her own business OG Beachwear, a luxury swimwear brand that sells swimming shorts for men as well as bikinis and bathing suits for women. But Liverpool and England legend Michael isn’t allowed anywhere near the designs, according to his daughter.

Speaking to the Walking The Dog podcast, 42-year-old Michael revealed that he had tried to wear some of the shorts in Gemma’s collection only for the swimming get-up to be quickly vetoed by his daughter, The Mirror reports . It seems that even having done professional sport for a living isn’t enough to meet Gemma’s high standards.

“Well, apparently I’ve tried to wear some of the shorts and she’s said, ‘No dad bods’,” Michael admitted. Gemma, who was an international dressage rider before starting her swimwear business, confirmed: “He’s banned”.

“I’m banned - [Gemma said] ‘No dad bods in my shorts’,” Michael added. “I’m willing to put in a big order, but she’s still saying no.”

Gemma has been modelling looks from her swimwear brand herself during her time in the Love Island villa - where she has recently been causing some serious friction. Friday night’s episode saw a furious row erupt as Luca was shown footage of partner Gemma having a flirtatious conversation with Billy.

Luca branded Billy and Gemma “f****** liars” after the Movie Night footage played. And the drama is set to continue in Sunday’s episode , with a preview clip showing Luca telling the boys about Gemma: "If she wants to f****** play it down to me, I will f****** explode!"
