Love Island's first coupling ends in serious snaking and an earth-shattering twist

It was wedges and belted swimwear at the ready tonight when the Love Island girls finally got to meet their 'bevs'.

Yes, if Newquay surfer Lucie Donlan has her way then that word - which apparently means a hot man - will be a thing.

There were awkward scenes when no-one stepped forward for poor Sherif, with all the ladies claiming they'd been put off by his jazzy shirt.

He chose Amber Gill, who made it quite clear that she wasn't best pleased and promptly scurried off with Callum McLeod.

At which point Sherif Larne looked absolutely gutted before recoupling with Anna Vakili.

Lucie immediately started breaking hearts, ditching Micheal for Joe. And she proved to be hot property, with Anton revealing a snakey side by hitting on her - despite being coupled with Amy.

In the end the couples were: Anton Danyluk and Amy Heart, Callum and Amber, Joe Garrat and Lucie Donlan, Michael Griffiths and Yewande Biala, Anna and Sherif.

Anton and Amy coupled up - before his TMI confession (ITV2)

As the Islanders got to know each other, things turned gross really quickly with Anton revealing his mum shaves his BUM!

But if that wasn't enough to undo all his hard grafting of Lucie, the shock arrival of two new hunky blokes might.

Curtis Pritchard (aka Strictly star AJ's brother) and Tommy Fury (aka boxing legend Tyson's brother) were thrown in in a last-minute twist, sending the boys reeling.

Will either bloke manage to turn the taken ladies' heads?

*Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2
