Love Island's final 'ruined' as Laura Whitmore makes announcement

Love Island fans feel host Laura Whitmore spoiled the final before it got even going. All the ITV show fans would know that the most exciting part of the final is seeing if the eventual winners choose 'love or money,' when they are given the choice of splitting the £50,000 prize with their other half or stealing it all for themselves.

There have been no 'steals' to date but bookies definitely weren't ruling it out this time. With hours to go until the Love Island final, there were odds on either Davide or Ekin-Su taking the money, as they were red hot favourites to win. Experts put Davide as the more likely to make the savage move on odds of 16/1, reports Chronicle Live.

However, their odds ended up being redundant as within seconds of the final starting, presenter Laura first said the winners would split £50,000, which sparked confusion as viewers assumed that might not necessarily be a given. But then she confirmed suspicions by announcing that the winners 'wouldn't be asked to choose between love and money.'

It took just a few seconds for Twitter to erupt with disapproval. One Love Island fan blasted: "Excuse you what!? Removing the final twist, so no longer ‘money or love’. Someone needs sacking," with a second reacting: "Did I hear that right? They don’t have to choose love or the money this year ? Ummm wtf is this."

Others joked that producers were scared either Davide or Ekin-Su would take the cash, while a few said they were glad it was no longer an option. In favour of it being pulled, one viewer tweeted: "Oh also…I’m glad there’s no stupid choosing between “love or money” aside from the baby challenge it’s the most pointless part to the show and always very underwhelming!"
