Love Island's famous villa rebuilt as ITV boss confirms 2021 series will be in Mallorca

It's almost time for the Islanders to gather around the fire pit as Love Island is set to return to sunny Spain for its 2021 summer series.

ITV bosses today confirmed that the new contestants will be looking for love in Mallorca as that's where the "home" of the show is. Last year's winter series was the last to grace our screens as the summer version had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Love Island fans got excited this week as a brand new trailer for the upcoming series dropped, teasing a whole summer of love.

Many wondered if it would take place in Africa again or go back to its roots in Mallorca as lockdown is not yet fully lifted and countries are still moving from the green, amber and red travel lists, according to The Mirror.

But ITV commissioner Amanda Stavri has all but promised the show will be filmed in Spain, with brand new photographs surfacing online, showing the villa being reconstructed ready to house some gorgeous singletons shortly.

Stavri told RadioTimes : "We haven’t announced anything officially but Mallorca is very much the home of Love Island.

"I can’t confirm anything 100 per cent at this stage but it will definitely be the Love Island viewers know and love."

She added: "We did look into some back up plans but we were all very much focused on making it happen in Mallorca, which is where it belongs quite frankly."

Her husband Iain Stirling will be joining her on the island along with their baby daughter, who they welcomed earlier this year, and he is heard in the trailer exclaiming: "This is not a drill!"

While some features remain the same, it's been reported that ITV bosses are hoping to make the 2021 series the most inclusive yet.
