Love Island's Dr Alex finally reunites with girlfriend for a socially-distanced date

Love Island hunk Dr Alex George has been given some respite from duty as he found time for a socially-distanced date with his girlfriend.

Alex, who's an NHS doctor at a Lewisham hospital and has documented life battling coronavirus, has been isolating separately from partner Amelia Bath since the country-wide lockdown went into effect.

But now the pair are allowed to see each other in line with the government's most recent set of lockdown rules - given they keep at a two metre distance from one another.

The pair headed for a socially-distanced picnic, Alex sharing a selfie from the sunny spot.

An emotional Alex penned: "After SO long apart what a feeling to finally see you AB.

"So close yet so far staying 2 metres apart...but right now we will take what we can get."

Just last week Alex shared a gushing tribute to beautiful Amelia as the heartache of her absence got to him.

"Nearly 2 months apart, miss being at home together," he wrote.

Still, he's not letting gruelling hours away from Amelia get to him, as he also offered his followers a message of positivity and hope for the future.

"Yes things are uncertain and times are tough," he admitted, "But we do this TOGETHER with POSITIVITY.

"We do not let coronavirus take our spirit. Keep smiling and stay strong."

He's also been giving shout outs to colleagues for acts of kindness and support.

"KINDNESS," he captioned a snap of him with work mates, "Recently I have been exhausted and not sleeping well so Amanda gave me some bath bombs to help me relax and chill out a bit.

"Peter has really watched out for me, dropping me a WhatsApp, joking and chatting which has really made me feel better."
