Love Island's Demi Jones takes mind off thyroid cancer battle on night out with co-stars

Demi Jones beamed a gorgeous smile as she enjoyed a night out with her Love Island pals amid her diagnosis with thyroid cancer.

The reality beauty looked stunning in a little black dress with a deep plunging neckline while enjoying a night out in London with twins Eve and Jess Gale.

The 22-year-old, who admits she struggled to come to terms with the scar on her neck following her operation, smiled for the cameras as she walked alongside her co-stars.

Eve, also 22, opted for a pair of denim shorts with a one-sleeved white top, while her twin wore a skin-tight beige dress as the trio walked hand-in-hand to Madison's rooftop bar.

Just one day before letting her hair down on the fun night out, Demi admitted she felt worried about being left with a permanent scar on her neck after having surgery for her thyroid cancer.

She had an operation last month to remove a tumour from her thyroid gland.

She told The Sun at the time: "I was incredibly anxious as I'd never had any kind of surgery before, and while it sounds silly, I was worried about the scar on my neck.

"Now I've decided to really own it because I've had a few young girls message me who have had thyroid cancer saying it's been nice to see someone with a scar."

Demi will need further treatment in order to destroy any remaining cancer cells in her body.

The star, who rose to fame on Love Island last year, has previously spoken of her anger after six of her hospital appointments were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She said that she broke down in tears to her mum after a consultant told her they'd have to "cut out" the golf ball-sized lump as quickly as possible after she'd been told before that it was "completely clear".

She said: "I've felt scared and angry. I went for a coffee the other day with a friend and said, 'Why me? I don't know anyone my age who has got cancer'. But I'm lucky, my cancer is treatable."

Demi has been sharing her journey on social media, and appeared to suggest she'd found a new philosophy for life amid her cancer battle.

Sharing a stunning snap of herself all dolled up, she told her followers: "Tomorrow isn’t promised.. get drunk TONIGHT"

Sharing another beautiful picture of herself cuddled up to her dog, she wrote: "I ’ll get through this, and I’ll do it with a smile on my face. Thank you for all the love"
