Love Island's Demi Jones exposes troll who laughed when she announced she had cancer

Demi Jones has condemned a nasty follower who laughed at her for getting cancer.

The Love Island star a posted a screenshot of the awful comment on her Instagram stories, backing up her claim that some so-called fans had made nasty comments to her, and even accused her of lying about her condition.

The individual had written: "Hahaha you got cancer" and Demi replied:

"I never respond to trolls but this is unacceptable. Please don't be that person, thank you for all the other kindness."

Last week, the Love Island star revealed that in April, she’d undergone surgery and the lump that was removed from her neck proved to be cancer.

Demi will now have to take medication to control her thyroid gland for the rest of her life.

The 21-year-old from Portsmouth was interviewed on Good Morning Britain last Tuesday by hosts Susanna Reid and Bill Turnbull, who himself is living with incurable cancer.

She said she was still reeling from the discovery that the tumour was malignant and needed to be removed.

"It's been a bit of a hard thing to process, it's all very new to me and it's happening very quickly but I'm okay, that's the main thing," she said.

Demi also revealed that while most of the comments from the public had been positive, she'd already suffered from individuals who suspected she’d been lying about her condition to get attention.

She said: "I've been really lucky I haven't experienced lots of trolling since coming out of the villa, but there are still people like that.

"Even with my cancer, I've had nasty comments. Saying things like 'she's lying' and I woke up and saw on my Instagram and thought "that's ridiculous.

"Unfortunately there are people out there like that. I don't respond to anything, I never respond to trolling on social media, it's not worth my time… But it makes me sad."

Demi added: "I'm not lying about this at all. It's a really serious thing, I don't want to be going through this."
