Love Island's Demi in hospital dash to get 'golf ball' lump removed from neck

Demi Jones revealed that she has undergone surgery to remove a 'golf ball' size lump in her neck.

The 22-year-old former Love Island star appeared from a hospital bed after undergoing the process to remove the 'potentially cancerous' lump.

Sharing a picture of herself in a hospital gown, Demi explained to fans that she was feeling very sleepy and swollen after having the mass removed.

She also focused the camera on the front of her neck, that was covered with bloodied bandages.

"Face and neck really swollen but the surgery went really well," she wrote alongside the post.

The reality star added: "The lump on my thyroid was as big as a golf ball. The NHS staff at the QA Portsmouth have been unbelievable. And thank you for all your messages they have made me tearful. "

She then announced that she would be taking a break from social media to recover after her surgery.

In a final note, Demi also urged her followers to make sure they get their lumps checked out by medics.

Demi's recent surgery came a couple of weeks after she was informed by doctors that the lump might be cancerous and she would have to have it operated on.

At the start of April, Demi told her 1.1 million followers that she had challenged doctors when she underwent a scan and was told that 'everything looks fine'.

Luckily she was offered more tests before medics discovered that it could be potentially cancerous.

She explained at the time: "So I went to go get the results today for my lump and they think it could be cancerous, so I've got to go have it operated and removed in the next couple of weeks."

In a tearful Instagram video, Demi admitted that she was in 'shock' and she was 'really worried' about what the doctors had discovered.

Luckily, Demi has been able to get an operation booked in quickly. She has also used her platform in an effort to raise awareness for getting lumps checked out and not to put off appointments.
