Love Island's Connor Durman branded 'controlling psycho' by viewers over chat with Sophie Piper

Love Island contestant Connor Durman has come under fire from viewers for his treatment of Sophie Piper, with some branding him a "controlling psycho," after he lost his temper with villa love interest.

On Wednesday night's show, the Islanders received a text to inform them of the imminent arrival of and Sophie celebrated the news, throwing her arms in the air as Connor looked on disgust, before reacting angrily to her actions in a discussion with the other lads.

He told them "I'm gonna pull her on that," and, staying true to his word Connor told Sophie he wanted to speak to her and then snapped at her, despite her trying to explain that she was joking and other girls around her were doing the same.

Connor's temper did not go down well at all with viewers as the credits rolled on the latest episode of the new series, which has already been the centre of a bit of controversy, despite being on screen for a matter of days.

One tweeted: "Connor is giving me all the psycho vibes, so controlling," and another added: "Connor is a control freak warning signals from the start with him."

Taking things further, another incensed viewer posted "Can we all agree that Connor is horrible and gas lights Sophie?"  However other fans of the show have defended Connor, with one tweeting " I don’t see any wrong in how Connor reacted. I don’t see ‘controlling’ vibes at all! Only insecurities," and another commenting "He's the only guy that hasn't looked at someone else so her reaction was uncalled for."

Love Island was hit by 'gaslighting' claims last year over Michael's treatment of Amber after he dumped her for Joanna, with ITV bosses forced to respond to Ofcom complaints from viewers.
