Even if you’re not a fan of Love Island, at least it’s doing something for society: killing off the trend for men’s white jeans.
Villa evictee Chuggs blamed “the curse of white jeans” after he bravely wore a pair for last night’s coupling up – and promptly got the boot.
Civil servant Sharon said the fashion faux pas is her biggest turn-off at the start of the new series.
Her admission has spread fear among the boys in the villa, with Chuggs revealing they all have a secret pair stashed away, which they are now too afraid to wear.
“I can tell there’s a few in there that want to wear them,” says Chuggs, a bucket hat entrepreneur (genuinely).
“They’re just not wearing them because there’s been a bit of that ‘boys and white jeans’ thing going on.”
Chuggs went on to single out Islanders Hugo Hammond and Jake Cornish for hiding their derided denims.
Jake, he claims, repeatedly denied the allegation, but Chuggs snitched that he did eventually admit to stowing away the offending kecks.
“They ALL have them,” he insists, claiming Hugo even attempted to put a pair on and removed them for fear of a backlash.
So Chuggs gallantly offered to be the first wearer of white this series – but that only made matters worse, as Rachel Finni picked sensibly-trousered Brad McClellend over him.
“The ‘curse of the white jeans’,” surrendered Chuggs.
The reality series spawned the sartorial misstep in the first place back in 2017 when Chris Hughes, Kem Centinay and Dom Level all opted for khaki T-shirts and white trousers and sent sales skyrocketing.
Four years later, it looks like the ITV2 series has finally redeemed itself.
