Love Island's Chris Hughes suggests major part of Love Island final 'needs to go'

Love Island's Chris Hughes has suggested that a major part of the show's final "needs to go" as the series is set to return in the summer.

Tonight, Paige Turley and Finley Tapp crowned as winners of the 2020 Winter series and were handed an envelope each - one containing £50k and the other nothing.

Singer Paige was the lucky one of the two, receiving the envelope containing the money, meaning that it was up to her whether she wanted to take the cash home or share evenly with her boyfriend.

Paige of course decided to share the money with Finn, leading fans to slam the money twist part of the final as "pointless" seeing as no islander in the history of the show stole the cash for themselves.

But following the show dramatic final this evening, former Islander Chris Hughes had some advice for the show.

Chris slammed ITV bosses for keeping the “pointless” money split feature.

He took to Twitter to moan: “What is the point in the share or steal love island prize money bit?

“Needs to go. Turns a love show into a game show, for no reason. Lol.”

Fans of the show also rushed to Twitter to voice their opinions on the segment.

One slammed: "I think they need to revamp this ending ‘jeopardy’ part, it doesn’t feel as tense enough because we don’t actually believe they won’t do anything other than split the £50K #LoveIsland"

While another wrote: "Why do they still bother doing this spit or steal thing like no ones gonna run off with the 50k unfortunately."

Singer-songwriter Paige and recruitment consultant Finn had been up against bookies favourites Siannese and Luke T, Jess and Ched and Demi and Luke M during this evening's final.
