Charlie Frederick has claimed that he was still dating Arabella Chi before she jetted off to join Love Island.
The reality star, who made a brief appearance on the ITV2 show last year, used his Instagram Stories to slam Arabella for leaving him feeling “completely mugged off” and to share a series of now-deleted screenshots of WhatsApp messages between the pair.
“Right so this is an absolute madness for me,” Frederick wrote. “Finding out that a person I'm seeing on a serious level has just strolled into the villa completely disregarding my feelings and our relationship or what we had. […]
“I'm truly upset that Arabella has lied to me about what she was doing and claiming she had a campaign but instead going into Love Island.”
Frederick went on to say that he realises “relationships have their ups and downs” but feels “truly gutted” and “couldn’t figure out” why Arabella had chosen to go on Love Island.
He then posted a series of screenshots showing conversations between the two, which he claimed were in the past two weeks, with intense chat about their blossoming but rocky romance.
Frederick appears to have since deleted the chat threads, but his statement remains on his story for fans to read.
A spokesperson for ITV told Standard Online: “Arabella was single when she went into the villa.”
Frederick, who was dumped from the villa last year with Hayley Hughes, also hit out at the show for casting two of his exes in this year’s series, writing: "Wow @loveisland you wanna have my f****** life any more?" in an earlier Instagram Story.
He previously dated 21-year-old surfer Lucie Donlan, with their romance ending just before she entered the villa.
In tonight’s episode, Lucie lets slip that she is aware of who Arabella is because she’s been a regular on her social media pages.
“I recognise you!” Lucie said as they first met. “You’re my ex’s ex. I’ve stalked you [on social media] before.”
