Love Island's brutal dumping sees Hugo leave villa as Mary and Tyler are saved

Love Island 2021 original cast member Hugo Hammond has been dumped from the villa during a brutal mass dumping.

The PE teacher was one of four islanders to leave the villa as he was joined by his couple partner Amy Day, Clarisse Juliette and Sam Jackson.

The boys elected to save Mary Bedford due to her connection with safe boy Dale Mehmet, despite him being officially paired up with Abigail Rawlings.

Teddy Soares said when the decision was made: “It was a really hard decision because you’re all amazing girls.”

Meanwhile, the girls decided to save Tyler Cruickshank as he continued to have chemistry and a connection with Kaz Kamwi despite her having been coupled up with Matthew MacNabb.

Faye Winter said of the girls’ decision: “We do believe he’s on the right path to finding true happiness”

“He has been part of many highs in this villa and a few lows.

“The villa just wouldn’t be the same without him."

She added of Kaz: “We do believe that there’s someone in the girls who deserve that happiness as well."

Clarisse said she regretted her attachment to Tyler on the way out, while everyone said their goodbyes to those in villa.

Hugo labelled his journey in the villa as "tragic"

With Clarisse now out of the villa, Kaz will be able to freely pursue her connection with Tyler and firmly put an end to her romance with Matthew who felt like she was keeping her options open despite having wanted “100%” from him.

Six islanders were up for being dumped and the boys and girls each had to decide who to save (ITV)

“I think you should have told me first to be honest. Being told through Tyler is not ideal,” Matt told Kaz in Wednesday night’s episode.

Kaz replied: “I didn't purposefully say I'm going to leave Matt in the dark. You told me things aren't that deep between us Matt.”

“I said it's early days,” he clarified. “You know what, I need to cool down cos you're p***ing me off.”

As an angry Matt walked off, Kaz said to herself: “I don't know what to do.”

*Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub, with previous episodes available on ITV Hub and added to BritBox the following morning.
