Love Island's Brett Staniland still wants to get to know Priya Gopaldas 'romantically'

Priya Gopaldas and Brett Staniland have become the latest people to be dumped from Love Island.

The couple were labelled amongst the least compatible by their fellow islanders and a public vote saw them leave the villa in Monday's episode.

The pair had been up against: Faye Winter and Teddy Soares, Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish and Mary Bedford and Aaron Simpson.

Despite their relationship seeming to hit a standstill, Brett has revealed that he would like to continue things romantically with Priya.

He said: "I would love to keep getting to know her and date her properly, but equally I’d need a different dynamic. I’d need more from her, I need effort from her.

"I want her to plan stuff. Even just a simple thing like a run and coffee date. Just so it feels that reassurance that she also wants to be there and do stuff with me."

But Priya doesn't seem to feel the same: "I don’t think there is anything romantic there but I know for certain there will be a friendship."

The 23-year-old medical student revealed she thought it was "inevitable" that her and Brett would be dumped.

Following her exit, Priya said: "Because Brett and I were the only friendship couple there, it was inevitable that we were going to leave.

"I’m glad that all the other couples in there are super solid and they have a chance to stay, it’s only fair they stayed and we left."

Priya also revealed that she believes Millie and Liam will win the prize money.

She said: "They’ve been on such a journey. From what I have seen in the Villa, they are inseparable. They are literally attached to each other. It’s lovely to see that. They are adorable together."

Brett said he believes all of the couples will have "relationships outside of the Villa to some extent."

He said: "I think some of them will face more challenges than others with distance and hobbies and stuff outside of the Villa. Because when you’re in there, all you can do is spend time with each other and there’s no distractions.

"Millie and Liam and Chloe and Toby - they are together all day every day, you have to peel them off each other, especially Millie and Liam."

Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.

Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
