Love Island star Brett's identical twin brother had to quit running his social media accounts after witnessing the relentless trolling.
The Islander joined the show on 10 August, and since then, vile people have been leaving comments on the PhD student's Instagram.
As his identical twin brother, comments on Brett's appearance felt 'personal' so he handed the social media account over to a friend to run.
"I'm his identical twin so anything I see about appearance, or what he's like, I take it so personally," Scott explained to the BBC.
"It's relentless as well, and it's a really weird space online, this lack of consequence for saying something out in the open online when you're at home with your piece of plastic in your hand."
Some of the trolls have even been comparing Brett's appearance to "people that have committed serious crimes".

"Honestly after a day, I've not told many people this, I handed the login over to a friend who's used to managing online communities," he added.
"So I was really grateful for that because I was up until four o'clock on the first night reading every quoted tweet, every reply, every comment, DM, all of that stuff."
It isn't the first time contestants were on the receiving end of abusive messages from trolls.
Priya, who is currently coupled up with Brett, received endless racist messages since she entered the villa as a bombshell.
Posting on Priya's Instagram stories, her friends wrote: "Morning all. We understand everyone has their own views on what happens on the show. However we need to remind you guys that racist comments and trolling is unacceptable!
"Please remember to be kind. Thank you to all the lovely messages that have been sent supporting Priya. Priya's gals xxx."
