Love Island's Brad McClelland proves to be most popular lad as contestants couple up

A Northumberland labourer proved the most popular lad of the night as Love Island series seven began.

Amble's own Brad McClelland enjoyed an exciting start to the series, becoming the most sought-after man in the first hour of the show.

Amble labourer Brad, who confessed that "looks for me is the most important" thing in a relationship, instantly proved the most popular lad of the night, with three lasses stepping forward in a bid to claim his affection.

With three vying for him, Brad plumped for "the one in the blue" (AKA Faye Winter) - the girl who'd already proven most popular with the men, being picked by two other blokes before Brad.

The Northumberland 26-year-old, who is coming to the villa after an eight and a half year relationship, said he was happy with his choice Faye, a "good looking lass" with whom he'd "had a bit crack".

After a long lockdown, the Islanders were all excited to enter their "sanitized sex bubble" and possibly find the one.

It was a more disappointing start for two of the boys, Hugo Hammond and Toby Aromolaran, who none of the girls stepped forward for.

But, as philosophical PE teacher Hugo said: "It’s a long game, not a short game, so we will be alright.”

With the first set of couples now now in place, it looks set to be a dramatic summer.

Love Island airs on ITV2 at 9pm every night apart from Saturdays.
