Love Island's Belle Hassan reveals how actor father Tamer got her on the show

Love Island’s Belle Hassan has said her actor father Tamer helped her win a place on the show.

The make-up artist, 21, told how a friend of the Game of Thrones star approached ITV bosses after she agreed she would do it.

She was later dumped from the island in week eight with partner Anton Danyluk, 24, one day before the final.

Speaking to Closer Online, Belle - who previously described her father as her “link to the famous world” - said: “I had a conversation with my dad and he asked me if I wanted to do the show.

“I didn't really think much of it and before I knew it one of his friends [got me in contact] with someone at ITV and then I did the audition and started the application process."

Tamer, 51, has starred in The Football Factory, The Business and Game of Thrones, where he appeared as a Dothraki warrior Khal Forzo in series six.

She previously described him as “very supportive” and “like a best friend” who is “always there for [her.]”

The actor entered the villa as part of the show's Meet The Parents segment and bonded with Anton.

He told the couple: “When she [Belle] said, ‘can I sleep in your bed?’, I thought, ‘I’m gonna tear your head off when you get home’. But then, I gotta say, you two have unfolded, it’s blossomed and it’s now really beautiful.”

Belle’s confession came after ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall revealed only six of this year’s contestants were applicants.

"On series five of Love Island to date (15 July), there have been 36 contributors,” she said. "Twenty-four were found and cast by the programme's casting team, six were put forward by professional agents and six came through the general application process."

Danyluk has since confirmed he was one of the lucky six who applied.

He said: “I went through the whole application process. I did the first one minute video and from there I met producers, then I had a medical and then I met the executive producers and then I was ready to go.”
