Love Island's Anton Danyluk in race row after 'blacking up' as Mr T

Scottish Love Island contestant Anton Danyluk is facing calls to be axed from the show after a picture emerged of him 'blacking up' as Mr T.

The Airdrie gym owner was pictured dressing up as the A-Team star for a Halloween party he attended with pals.

The snap, from 2013, appeared on The Ranch Facebook page which shows Anton wearing dungarees, big gold jewellery, a fake mohican and his face painted.

The image has been branded racist by ex- Love Island contestant Marcel Somerville who is calling for the Scot to be removed from the programme.

He told the Sun : "It’s racist. For him to stay on the show now without repercussions is not OK."

"Perhaps Love Island bosses should let his fellow housemates know what he did. Then we can see if he still finds it funny.

"It doesn’t matter if you are dressing up as Mr T ‘for a laugh’ or pretending to be Al Jolson, there’s never an excuse for it.

"I find blackface extremely offensive and there’s no place for it in any situation."

The picture was posted on a Facebook page for his gym 'The Ranch' and shows the reality TV hopeful larking around with pals.

He can be seen 'blacked up' as Mr T, aka Laurence Tureaud, who played B. A. Baracus in the 1980s television series The A-Team.

Anton Danyluk will be heading into the Love Island villa alongside 11 other hopefuls (ITV)

Love Island series five hits our screens on Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
