Love Island's Antigoni left villa in tears worried stint would tarnish music career

Singer and musician Antigoni Buxton has confessed she cried when leaving Love Island as she worried the short stint in the famous Majorca love nest may tarnish her music career.

The 26-year-old contestant, who is also the daughter of presenter Tonia Buxton, was only in the ITV dating show for a short time and has since opened up about her fears since being booted off after eight days.

Speaking to Will Nnjobvu on Reality she gushed: “I’ll be real, when I left - I bawled [cried]. Yeah, because if I’m being honest I felt embarrassed. I was like - oh my God I’ve only gone in for a week and I just felt like I would come back and... I’ve ruined my music career.

Will interjected: "No you haven't'' as she continued:"I know that now."

She explained how since coming out of the ITV reality show she's had the best time and even timed it to attend 'Pride' and had 'the best experience'.

She added:"I really got along with Davide, we are no b***s****. If something was to grow, it would have been very organic.

But fellow islander and guest on the show Charlie Radnedge, 28, explained how they were perhaps too similar and 'proud' to admit they liked each other and used to being 'no.1' and were afraid to 'put themselves out there'.

Despite not finding love in her short and sweet stay Antigoni appears in good spirits and when on the show her mum was rooting for her to stay to further her music career and star status.

In a post sent to supporters, her telly chef mum Tonia said: “She is on it to showcase her music.” Tonia, 54, also called on everyone to vote for Antigoni, 26, so she can keep promoting her songs.

She said: “Please vote for her, tell all your friends & followers to vote for her too & most importantly PLEASE talk about her music. The longer she is in there, the longer her music will get out there.”

A spokesperson for the programme, however, insisted that they only cast people who are ‘looking for love’.

Antigoni was previously signed to Island Records when she was 20 by former president Darcus Beese, but has since left to start her own independent label Sirena Records.
