Love Island's Amy Hart opens up about 'baby back-up plan' after bad news in fertility MOT

Former Love Island star Amy Hart has revealed that she is freezing her eggs after receiving some bad news during a fertility MOT.

The 27-year-old appeared on Loose Women as she spoke about her fears that she could go through early menopause after her mum and auntie went through it in their early 40s.

Amy went through a "fertility MOT", which included an internal scan. While she was told that her eggs were of good quality, she was warned about her AMH levels, which are an indicator of how long she would be fertile for.

As a result, she has made the big decision to freeze her eggs, which is a rigorous process of 10 days worth of injections and going under general anaesthetic.

Asked why she hadn't met someone yet, she joked: "I'm quite a full-on person - as demonstrated on national television!"

She also said that if she still met someone between now and March, when her egg freezing is scheduled for, she would still go through the procedure.

"I don't live my life by whatever man I meet," Amy said. "As well, you don't know - I could meet someone and get married and then get to 35 and try and have a baby and them say, 'Oh, actually, those eggs you froze when you were 27 are better quality than the ones you have now. '"

Amy was probed on whether she needed to "calm down a bit" about having kids.

While Amy agreed, she said she would rather be able to have a back-up just in case.

She replied: "I'd love to meet someone, get married, have kids naturally. Fine. That's my dream idea.

"But if that doesn't happen, I've got my insurance policy."
