Love Island's Amber Gill shares horrendous abuse she's received over Black Lives Matter protests

Amber Gill has shared some of the horrendous abuse she's received in response to her posts about Black Lives Matter protests.

Amber, who won Love Island last year, has now attended numerous events in support of the anti-racism movement, as well as posting petitions and donation pages on her social media accounts, following the shocking death of George Floyd at the hands of a police in America.

Last week, Gateshead girl Amber attended the huge BLM demonstration in London, where she now lives, which saw thousands of people flock to Hyde Park and was forced to defend herself against accusations she didn't social distance, responding: "I hope people who are coming with the 'social distancing' had the same energy for Dominic Cummings, for the VE Day parties, for the beaches, for all the parks, for all the footballers at their apartments having parties... I just hope that you had the same energy as this is for a real-life cause."

On Tuesday, the same day George Floyd was laid to rest in the States, Amber shared a shocking message she'd received from someone on Instagram about her supporting Black Lives Matter.

The message read: "F*** off c*** It's one black in America that died and caused this to happen...try not to forget there's a global pandemic going on and this isn't helping the UK beat it."

The sender added: "As a public figure just f*****g think more about everyone's health rather than the colour of your skin."

"Blacks don't crack but they still get get COVID. Dumb c***."

After posting the message on her Instagram story, Amber followed it up with her own post which read: "Been super quiet on Insta protesting for 7 hours a day and then coming home to awful messages and comments has been a lot.

"It's been an exhausting time...I will resume posting petitions and donation pages in the coming days. I am still strongly supporting the movement but just had to take a minute because it has been A LOT."

She ended the post: "Love to you all. Who knew fighting for human rights would p*** so many people off."
