Love Island's Alexandra Cane reveals she feels 'lost' due to mental health struggles

FormerLove Island star Alexandra Cane has spoken out about struggling with mental health since leaving the ITV2 reality show.

The makeup artist, who appeared on the show in 2018, described the last year as a “total rollercoaster” and confessed she feels like she has “lost [herself] a little bit”.

Writing on Instagram on Tuesday, Cane explained she feels “lethargic, unmotivated, uninspired” and unsure of her life path.

“I don’t have any sort of structure or routine,” the 28-year-old continued, “which has taken its toll on my physical and mental health”.

Cane added that she recently suffered an injury, which has made it difficult to train in the gym.

“I’m now on a mission to get some sort of routine back and do what makes me feel good,” the reality star vowed, explaining that she intends to do this by eating well and exercising.

“Stress can come in so many forms and plays a huge impact on your body and overall health. Looking forward to sharing my journey with you all and hoping I can help and inspire others along the way if any of you are feeling like I am.”

Cane’s post has prompted a flurry of supportive comments from fans praising her for her candour.

“This is very positive in such an unpleasant social media world,” one person wrote.

Another added: “I'm going through the same. I respect your post. It’s definitely comforting I'm not alone.”

Mental health has been a major talking point among Love Island viewers since the recent deaths of two former stars, Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis, both of whom took their own lives.

Prior to the current season of Love Island starting, ITV announced its new duty of care processes, which include providing contestants with a minimum of eight therapy sessions once they leave the villa.
