Love Island's Adam Collard makes surprise appearance on Orange is the New Black

There's no mistaking the fact that millions of Brits have been hooked on the show for the past few years, but TV viewers have been left stunned by Love Island's appearance on a hit American TV series.

Since it made its debut on ITV2 in 2015, Love Island has had the nation talking and broken viewing figure records for the channel.

This week Love Island got its first Geordie winner when Gateshead girl Amber Gill won with Greg O'Shea and we already know there will be two series next year, with applications open for winter Love Island now.

However, despite its massive popularity over here, never in a million years did we expect Love Island to appear on Orange is the New Black.

But that's exactly what has happened. In episode 6 of season 7 of the smash hit prison drama - currently available on Netflix , character Natalie Figueroa (commonly known as Fig)  can be seen watching an episode of Love Island 2018, featuring Newcastle lad Adam Collard, who become notorious for being a bit of a love rat during his time on the show last year.

Reaction to Amber winning

And, sharing the sentiments of many viewers who tuned into Love Island last year and took Doctor Alex to their hearts, Fig, now warden of Litchfield's ICE detainment facility, remarks "oh my god, why are none of these women going for the doctor?"

Interestingly, Love Island USA has recently started airing in America, but the series, set in Fiji rather than Mallorca, hasn't proved anywhere near as popular with viewers as the UK version.
