Love Island respond after death threats sent to Chloe Burrows

Love Island has condemned the death threats sent to islander Chloe Burrows.

In last night's episode Chloe chose to couple up with Aaron which left Shannon single meaning she was first to go home.

Since the episode aired Chloe's family and friends posted to her Instagram to say that she had been receiving multiple death threats as a result.

The post said: "We hate to introduce ourselves under such vile circumstances but we've had enough after just three episodes.

"We all have thick skin but the amount of trolling Chloe has been receiving is absolutely disgusting.

"This morning we woke up to yet another DM encouraging Chloe to kill herself - there have been HUNDREDS."

However, Love Island have now responded to the threats.

Love Island's post said: "We want Love Island to be a positive experience for all of our cast and their friends and family members.

"Last night's episode created strong reactions but some viewer's posts were wholly unacceptable. We take these matters extremely seriously and will support cast members and their families in supporting such posts.

"We would once again urge all of our viewers to think before posting, and remember that our islanders are people with feelings."

This comes after the deaths of former contestants Sophie Gradon, Mike Thalassitis, and previous host Caroline Flack.

Previous islander Dr Alex also took to his Instagram earlier in the week before the seventh series started about being kind.

His post said: "I just wanted to post a gentle reminder to be kind online. Particularly when it comes to body image and appearance.

"Always worth remembering that although the contestants can’t read your tweets or comments while they are on the island, their loved ones certainly can. Importantly, so can your friends and family who might relate to that person on your screen."
