Love Island reject Joe Garratt 'heartbroken' by 'snake' Amy Hart

Lucie Donlan has repeatedly burst into tears, including after partner Joe Garratt told her to stay away from boxer Tommy Fury (Picture: ITV/REX)

Joe Garratt hit out at Amy Hart after he was told she was bad-mouthing Lucie Donlan in the Love Island villa.

Joe, who was coupled up with Lucie until the public voted to give him the boot on Tuesday night, said it was “heartbreaking” to hear about Amy’s behaviour.

“I thought we got on,” he told The Sun.

“If she’s gone back and said other things to other people that would be heartbreaking.”

Amy has taken aim at Lucie for her lack of interest in the villa’s female residents and was also left seething with jealousy after Lucie and Joe went official hours after Amy announced she was now Curtis Pritchard’s “half-girlfriend”.

The flight attendant also complained about Lucie’s behaviour to then-new girl Elma who suggested the girls do more to make her feel wanted, to which Amy disagreed.

Viewers have slammed Amy’s “snakey” behaviour and called her out for her apparent smug smile when it was revealed Lucie was at risk of being dumped after the islanders voted for who they believed to be the two least compatible couples.

“Amy is a snake ... I don’t buy the act at all,” tweeted one viewer while another posted: “Shame Amy is such a snake, she was so sweet at start but she's so cruel to Lucie.”

Referring to her attempts to comfort Lucie in the wake of Joe’s departure, one fan tweeted: “Amy you are not sympathetic for Lucie, don’t even spin that you snake #LoveIsland.”

Another wrote: “Joe is a sweetheart and he’s been totally done over! Amy is to blame – she’s a snake! Stay strong Lucie - don’t fall for the s***! #LoveIsland.”

Joe was accused of controlling behaviour, with some viewers raising concerns he was gaslighting Lucie after he condemned her close friendship with Tommy Fury.

But the south London sandwich man refused to apologise, insisting he was never “manipulative or abusive” and that he has been left “gutted” by the accusations.

Love Island is on ITV2, tonight at 9pm
