Love Island receives MORE Ofcom complaints following explosive recoupling and could still face an investigation

Love Island has been subject to more complaints from viewers following an emotionally-charged set of episodes in recent days.

Ofcom has received nearly 200 complaints in regards to Wednesday night's instalment of the ITV2 reality show.

The broadcasting regulator said it had 196 people express criticism over the episode which saw Michael Griffiths decide to dump Amber Gill and recouple with new girl Joanna Chimonides following the Casa Amor twist.

An Ofcom spokeswoman said: "We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate."

The villa erupted on Wednesday night as the emotions of the previous night's explosive recoupling unravelled.

Firefighter Michael had his head turned and decided to recouple with new girl Joanna after having "a lot of time to reflect" when the boys and girls were separated and 12 new contestants added in the shows ultimate test.

But while Michael and Amber's chat about the situation remained relatively low-key, it was pal Anna Vakili's reaction that left people reeling.

Hitting out at the 27-year-old, Anna fumed: "You've had a girl that you like and have a connection with and that's the reason. Don't make excuses for your action.

"If the reason why you left Amber is because of all these things then you should have left her before the new girl came."

This adds to the complaints the Caroline Flack fronted show received last month .

Nearly 800 people raised issues to Ofcom in one weekend after then new Islander Maura Higgins made advances towards Tommy Fury and also the treatment of contestant Lucie Donlan.
