Love Island receives hundreds of Ofcom complaints over 'toxic' girls 'bullying' boys

Love Island has received hundreds of Ofcom complaints this week. The popular ITV dating show aired some late scenes, with Casa Amor causing havoc for the islanders whilst the fall out in Movie Night saw some relationships crumble.

There were lots of couples switching in Casa Amor, before the Islanders' antics were aired to the whole villa in a special - and much loved - segment of the show called Movie Night, which always sparks drama. There, Islanders learned who encouraged fellow stars to cheat, and exactly what went down in the second villa.

On February 23, Ofcom received 266 complaints from viewers and a further 71 complaints for the episode on February 22. The majority of complaints were about Tanya Manhenga's behaviour towards Shaq Muhammad and Olivia Hawkins with Kai Fagan, the Mirror reports.

For the episode on February 22nd, most complaints were about Olivia's behaviour and treatment of Kai, whilst others expressed their concern for Will's mental health as the fallout from Movie Night began. After Movie Night, Shaq broke down in tears as he watched Tanya kiss Martin whilst in Casa Amor.

Despite Shaq being visibly upset, Tanya didn't apologise for what happened - resulting in some fans branding her "self-centred and immature". After watching the footage, Shaq fumed: "So it was just a peck, yeah, and he went to kiss you? So you're lying now?"

But Tanya refused to back down and said: "If you're looking for something to be angry about, this isn't it."

Shaq later told the boys: "I can't lie, I feel like she's a liar, I feel like she's full of s**t."

Elsewhere, Olivia was criticised for her treatment of Kai, when she pulled him for a chat and asked him why he didn’t name her as most untrustworthy during the challenge. "I was quite shocked you didn’t pick me," she said at the time.

Kai replied: "I just want to squash the beef, that’s it," whilst Olivia said she felt it was a bit of a cop out: "I completely want to squash it, but you picking Claudia for me was a bit of a cop out."

"For me it confirms that maybe you are quite fake and for me I’d much rather you’d have just said, ‘Olivia and these are the reasons why I don’t think she’s genuine,'" she told him, with many fans taking issue with her comments.
