Love Island newcomer Rachel's age stuns viewers who 'refuse to believe' it

Love Island new girl Rachel Finni quickly got everyone talking on Sunday night and it was all down to her age.

The latest bombshell of the new series had a big job to do from the get-go, having to choose between Brad and Chuggs, after both were left single at the end of Friday's recoupling.

The Londoner wasted no time in getting to know both guys and it was during her first chat with Chuggs that she left him gobsmacked with the fact she is 29.

The 21-year-old lad couldn't believe she was eight years older than him and neither could Love Island viewers at home, with many assuming, that with her youthful looks, the luxury travel specialist would be one of the youngest in the villa.

Taking to Twitter, one posted: "29??? Wowww she looks 23," and echoing those exact sentiments, another tweeted: "29 but she looks younger than everyone else there"

A third reacted: "SHES 29 WHAT THE F**K" while others weren't happy with Chuggs' implication that 29 was really old, with Rachel let feeling like a cougar.

One posted: "Please stop acting like 29 is elderly, this hashtag is toxic" and another commented: "She's 29 not 54."

Prior to going into the villa, Rachel revealed which boys she had her eye on, saying: "Aaron is very attractive and seems down to earth. Our jobs are similar so I think we’d have interesting conversations.

"Hugo seems like boyfriend material - handsome, charming - and I’d like to crack his shell a bit more. And Toby -he’s attractive, cheeky.

"I’d definitely have a lot of fun with him but I need to see if he’s worth pursuing."

And, on the subject of why she went on the show, she added: "It’s a combination of two things - I’ve always been a fan of the show. It’s a great experience, you meet great people.

"I’m someone who loves to live my life to the best. I’ve scraped the bottom of the dirtiest barrels, that’s how I describe my dating life.

"So I thought ‘why not? Let’s apply. If it happens, it happens.’ I think it’s an amazing way to spend the last year of my 20s, doing something that fulfils me emotionally as well. It’s more than going on Love Island for the sake of it.

"I’m doing it because I love the show and I need someone to marry me."
