Love Island new boy Connagh Howard has Hollywood past as an actor

One of the new Love Island hunks has had a Hollywood career, with a number of acting roles under his belt.

Connagh Howard, who will enter the villa in tonight's show, starred in the 2011 film Hunky Dory, where he acted alongside Minnie Driver.

The 27-year-old played a character called Marvin in the film, which is about drama teacher Vivienne (played by Driver) who is putting on a production of The Tempest.

The film premiered at the 55th BFI London Film Festival and Connagh got his first taste of fame by walking the red carpet with a whole host of famous faces.

He also had a role in hugely successful BBC drama Keeping Faith alongside Eve Myles.

Connagh played a boxing trainer in the show, which is about the character Faith searching for her missing husband.

The hunk, who also works as a model, didn't mention his acting career when he was interviewed before going into the villa.

But he did say his claim to fame was that he was in an advert with boxer Anthony Joshua.

Connagh said: "I was in an advert with Anthony Joshua. I'm a big boxing fan. I was really excited to meet him.

"In the ad we are both training. It was pretty nerve-wracking, he's a big boy!"

Connagh and Sophie Piper go on a date tonight (ITV/REX)

Tonight we'll see Connagh choose to go on a date with Sophie Piper, who is currently coupled up with Connor Durman.

Connor admits he's "stressed" when she goes on a date with someone else, but Sophie is keeping her options open.

She says: "I feel like I am happy with Connor. But obviously we're only a couple of days in so it would be silly to close myself off completely, so we'll have to see how the next couple of days go."

*Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2
