Love Island narrator Iain Stirling slags off Jacob Rees Mogg's book in shock outburst on This Morning

His words have delighted Love Island viewers for years - but today Iain Stirling gave This Morning viewers a shock when he aired his thoughts about Jacob Rees Mogg’s new book.

The narrator was on the ITV show to speak about the return of the dating series and his game show Celebability when he made it quite clear that the Conservative politician’s new book entitled The Victorians: Twelve Titans who Forged Britain will definitely not be on his summer reading list.

Iain made a quip to stand-in presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes saying that the Victorian era was ‘great if you’re a rich white guy’.

He shouted out at the end of his interview: “Please buy Rees Mogg’s book - It's incredible. The Victorian era was great - if you’re a rich white guy.”

This was followed by nervous laughter from the presenting couple, with Eamonn asking if he wants a bit of holiday reading.

"I'd rather not, thank you," Iain replied.

The outburst came just half an hour after the controversial MP and vocal Brexiteer himself sat on the couch to promote his book, in which he celebrates the Victorian age as a “period of moral certainty, of success”.

Delighted viewers took to Twitter to speak about Iain’s unexpected comments, with some agreeing with the comic.

One said: “Not a fan of Iain Sterling but he just gave that Jacob Rees-Mogg  t**t a right Victorian WALLOP.”

Another posted: "Victorian era was great if you’re a rich white guy" on about Jacob Rees mogg - Iain Stirling!”

A third joked: “Iain Stirling forging a friendship with Jacob-Rees Mogg right there.”

Another added: “@IainDoesJokes just fully summed up #reesmogg and his Victorian b****cks.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
