Love Island Maura Higgins takes thinly veiled swipe at ex Curtis Pritchard

Maura Higgins has taken a thinly veiled swipe at her former boyfriend Curtis Pritchard in an Instagram post.

Love Island star Maura announced that her and Curtis had separated earlier this week via an emotional statement.

On Monday Maura wrote on her Instagram story: "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate.

"We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.

"There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side.

"We tried to make it work but it wasn't too be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best future."

She followed this with a 'heartbreaking' emoji.

This afternoon Maura posted a photo to Instagram, sat drinking coffee in an all white outfit.

But it was the caption that got fans really talking as she said: "A strong women never gives up on herself, but she may give up on you."

And her followers were quick to jump on the comment.

feliciavixen said: "Caption YES QUEEN."

ailbhecookeee said: "Wow. Yes to that caption."

rhaydioactive said: "You forgot to add "Dear Curtis"

And emmalouise_1977 said: "He was totally punching anyway !! You will find mr.right you are strong."

Rumours had grown over Christmas that Maura and Curtis were having problems, as they spent the festive period apart.

Curtis said on Lorraine that he hadn't seen Maura for a while, fuelling rumours that all was not right between the reality star pair.

They hadn't been pictured together in over a month after they attended the National Television Awards in January 28.

It was reported that after the ceremony they'd had a heated row after he said she only got the red carpet presenting gig because of his fame.

Maura and Curtis were one of the few couples to stay together from last summer's Love Island.

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury are now the only ones still going strong.

Love Island winners Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea split just weeks after the final.

India Reynolds and Ovie Soko, Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan, Chris Taylor and Harley Brash and Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt all failed to make it work.
