Love Island hunk Brad McClelland will have to be a grafter with the laughter to make a go of it with Lucinda Stafford – to win over her mum.
Because while mum Nancy likes his charm, she says the 26-year-old labourer will have to make her chuckle too if he leaves the villa in her daughter’s arms.
Nancy said: “My mum always said, ‘Just go with someone who’s funny. It doesn’t matter what goes on in life, your sense of humour as a couple will take you through’.
“I like his Geordie banter and knew straight away Lucinda would find him attractive. I think genuinely when she walked in he thought, ‘Oh my god’. I feel like he meant it.
“She might change her mind, but he’s the best looking guy. Let’s see.”
But if Brad’s head gets turned instead, Nancy insists Lucinda, 21, is “resilient”, adding: “I think she’d be fine, she’d say, ‘Hey, ho’.”
Nancy follows every moment and has turned their Brighton home into a Love Island set.
She said: “I’ve got blow-up pineapples, parrots, 6ft blow-up palm trees, a blow up flamingo… it’s a party Love Island living room.”
And she revealed ex-British Airways hostess Lucinda’s best customer in the skies was DJ Nick Grimshaw.
She said: “She had a great laugh with him – he wouldn’t have anyone else serve him.”
She decided to go for the show when her ex-boyfriend, footballer Aaron Connolly, reportedly cheated.
Before going in on Tuesday, she said: “I fancy Brad, then possibly Liam. But I’m open to getting to know any of the other boys."
