Lucie from Love Island's mum has leapt to her defence after her ex boyfriend branded "fake" and "fame hungry".
The surfer, 21, dated Charlie Frederick from the 2018 series for six months, but he now claims it was just a fling.
Her mum Celly said Charlie had become "part of the family" during their trysts and insisted her daughter wasn't after fame.
She told MailOnline: "He said that it was just a very quick holiday romance, but in actual fact it was a proper relationship for six months.
"Charlie was part of our family. He’d come to see us every weekend and we even went on holiday together."
Charlie, who only appeared in show briefly before leaving with Hayley Hughes, believes his ex isn't looking for love .
He said: "She'll get a couple of Instagram followers on the way, if you know what I mean. You’ve got to do what you've got to do to get the Z-list fame."
But Celly fired back: "Lucie is not in it for fame at all."
In last night's Love Island Lucie coupled up with Joe once again after becoming torn between him and Tommy Fury.
Their relationship had already infuriated fans, who accused Joe of being "possessive" when he got annoyed after Lucie and Tommy went on a date.
Despite only knowing Lucie for just over 24 hours, Joe had already developed 'deep feelings' for the Cornish surfer and there were thoughts that they may be this series' Dani and Jack.
The first sign of their relationship being tested has brought out the worst in Joe, as he looks to 'control' Lucie's feelings and questioned her loyalty after she was taken on a date by Tommy, which Lucie had no choice in doing.
