Love Island - live: Tommy, Lucie, Amy and Curtis all head on a double date - but who will Lucie pick?

Love Island is back tonight for its third episode of 2019 – and sparks seem ready to fly in the Spanish villa.

Lucie has established her popularity, with no fewer than three contestants – Anton, Joe and Tommy – pining for her at one point in the second episode.

Meanwhile, Yewande appears to be making herself at home in the villa – and her behaviour appears startlingly more low-key than what is usually expected of the ITV2 reality TV behemoth.

Callum, Michael and Anna have so far remained in the wallflower camp, though of course there's still room for them to be the stars of tonight's episode.

(I feel like every woman has heard this sentence at least once in her life? Has it ever worked? Is there any peer-reviewed research articles on the topic?)
"I know how to treat a woman properly," Tommy pledges to Lucie.
Amy is telling Curtis she's never had an "official" boyfriend. Curtis has had one long-term relationship and says he has led a "very sheltered" life.
Meanwhile, Tommy and Lucie are chatting and discussing Tommy's life as a boxer.
Ah! Joe says he's had a conversation with Lucie during which she told him she wanted to be with him. Amber is not super convinced though.
Aaaw Tommy just told Lucie he gets "butterflies" when he looks at Lucie.
"You're good at the words, aren't you?" Lucie replied.
OK, on to the double date, then! Curtis tried to take a sip of his beverage but apparently choked on it. He's managed to play it off in a cool / charming / endearing kind of way, though.
Meanwhile, Anton is gossiping with Callum, trying to analyse the strategic possibilities of it all.
Lucie's crying. Joe is upset. Things are tense as a family meal when people start trying to discuss Brexit.
Things are off to a solemn start in the villa. All the islanders just learned that they will be involved in a recoupling at the end of the week and whoever is still single will be dropped from the show.
Amy and Curtis and Lucie and Tommy don't have time to dwell on that, though, because they have to go on a double date! Joe does not look happy about this one bit.
Previously on Love Island: Curtis and Tommy made their arrival in the villa and Tommy dropped a bombshell by choosing Lucie as a partner. Lucie is now torn between Tommy and Joe.
The show is starting! Is everyone ready?

Wondering what a "bev" is? This word, beloved by Lucie Donlan, refers to a handsome man. Read our glossary to familiarise yourself with more Love Island vernacular:
"Love Island’s feminist credentials are a matter of keen debate, but it does appear to deserve some credit for at least televising, if nothing else, what must surely be one of the sisterhood’s greatest barriers to justice. Which is that, where a woman’s interests do not align with a man’s, they simply do not enter the man’s head."

"Let’s all enjoy Love Island while not forgetting that reality television and real life at not at all the same": our writer Ed Powers argues that it's time to stop hate-watching the show.

Yesterday, Tommy caused quite the stir by deciding to partner up with Lucie – creating a bit of a love triangle between himself, Lucie and Joe Garratt. We'll see how this all plays out tonight...
